Identification of the Orange River Mudfish

Silvery grey to dark bluish black fish with small scales. These fish grow to about 50 centimetres in length with a weight of about 4 kilograms.

Distribution of this fish

Only found in the Orange and Vaal river systems.

How to locate

These fish prefer large slow moving or still bodies of water.

Carp baits like sweet dough and corn pips as well as worms can be used effectively.
